They left way to soon – 3 – 7 – 19.    polio and leukemia

The title speaks of my cousins.

Suzy, the 3 year old died with polio. Mom told me of looking through the window in the hospital door at the iron lung. Although I was about the same age, I remember the somber tone when she died. I don’t remember Suzy, but I do remember the affects, her death, had on family.

June was 7 years old and died with leukemia. We threw rocks at a 55 gallon barrel and swatted flies to see who could swat the most. From diagnosis to death was about a month.

Donnie was 19 and also passed away with leukemia. He was June’s brother. He was born a year after June died. Donnie spent 2 days with me shortly before he passed. He wanted to live so much and he tried so hard. He died after a 4 year battle.

 Many years later, I found this . . . . .

  1. I liked the quote by Angela Miller. Sorry for your loss even though it happened long ago.
