In 1952 mom was holding me in her lap like so many times before. This time something was different. She put her hand on my left leg, and it felt ice cold. We headed to the emergency room.

Therapy begin, and it would continue for sometime. We moved from Georgia to Fort Pierce Florida and the therapy continued there.

At the age of 3, I was accidentally ran over by a car driven by my dad. My parents both told me they remember the doctor saying their son may not walk again.

Some of the things that happened during this time, are vivid, but not a bunch. The next 2 or 3 years were kind of rough for my family, both emotionally and financially.

Of course, albeit slow, walking, jogging, and running re-entered into my life.

I don’t remember any pain, or emotional stress on me, during this time. I don’t really remember any of that, concerning my parents. Later, I learned, it was really tough times for them.
